August 26, 2008
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year at Grand Ridge!
Is this your first time receiving our school’s E-News? Welcome! Because E-News is such an important source of information, we use student records to automatically subscribe all families to their correct school E-News listservs once a year.
“Summer mailing” to Grand Ridge families: Important information and forms were mailed to all Grand Ridge families on August 14. Please complete and return the forms on September 2 or 3. This information is essential for the safety and care of your students during the school day.
Who will Sally have for a teacher?? This year, class placement will be communicated electronically via Family Access. If you have set up your Family Access account, you will be able to log-on to your account and find out your student’s teacher beginning Friday, August 29, at 5:00 pm. Upon completed registration and submittal of your e-mail address, you can obtain access to your Family Access account by visiting the Issaquah School District website at www.issaquah.wednet.edu and clicking on the Family Access link.
Forms, forms, and more forms!: “Family Packets,” containing demographic profiles (including emergency contacts) for each student and other important paperwork, will be distributed during our “Meet Your Teacher” event on September 2 (see below). Please make every effort to review the information and return completed forms to the office by the Friday, September 5.
“Meet Your Teacher” Hour: We can’t wait to see you! Please bring your student and his or her school supplies to school on Tuesday, September 2 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. This is our traditional meet-and-greet that is fun for all (and helpful to calm back-to-school jitters!), but it only lasts one hour! Children say hello to their teachers, find their desks, and meet their classmates in preparation for the first day of school.
School Supplies: School supply lists are posted in the “Bear Necessities” section of the school’s website (www.grandridge.issaquah.wednet.edu.) If you ordered a pre-packaged school supplies kit online through EPI products, your kit will be available at our Meet Your Teacher event on September 2. Unclaimed kits will be delivered to your child’s classroom prior to the first day of school.
First Day of School - Grades 1-5: The first day of school for grades 1-5 will be Wednesday, September 3 beginning at 9:00 am; the dismissal time will be at 1:15 pm (regular Wednesday schedule).
Kindergarten Orientation: There will be a parent only kindergarten orientation on Wednesday, September 3. AM kindergarten parents meet from 9:15 until 10:15 am; PM kindergarten parents meet from 10:30 – 11:30 am in the kindergarten classrooms. Please leave your kindergarten student and siblings at home.
First Day of School – AM and PM Kindergarten: The first day of school for AM and PM kindergarten students will be Thursday, September 4.
Bus Stop Information: In late August, each bus-riding family will be mailed a yellow postcard with bus stop, pick up and drop off information.
Please leave Fido home when you visit our school! The District has put in place a new policy that prohibits all animals on campus unless they are a documented medical aide or provide a specific educational value. While we also love our pets, our schools need to be places that are safe, clean, hygienic, and comfortable for every student and adult who uses the public space. Thank you for understanding!
What’s for Lunch? Elementary student lunches are $3.00. You may deliver checks for lunch money accounts to the cafeteria on our “Meet Your Teacher” event on Tuesday, September 2. Please take advantage of this opportunity to get your student’s account funded before school begins.
MyLunchMoney.com: The Issaquah School District Food Service has been using MyLunchMoney.com as an option to prepay for your child’s school lunch using your credit or debit card. To enroll, go to www.MyLunchMoney.com and click on ENROLL NOW. To fund your student’s account, choose “Fund Student” from the menu options.
